quote=basscaster46] I first want to say anyone that is into fishing has heard of FLW, BASS, and MLF! Secondly, I would never fish a lake that has a major event going as I never want to have something like this happening just imagine what this guys friends are saying... Doubt they care. [/quote] Based on this he prolly doesn’t have any.

I wouldn't be on the same lake with a major tournament going on.

I am into fishing and I thought MLF was a porn site, BASS is what i wanna catch, and still don't know what FLW is. Free Lake Waters?

This dude is just trying to be a Richard. That’s all. Prolly a local hand that wants to try and prove he’s a big ol hammer on this lake and figures this is the stage to do it. It’s a total preek move and it’s on purpose. Just is what it is.

I love how everyone assumes everyone is a fan and follower of professional fishing.
I fish in a local bass club. A good percentage of the guys probably couldn’t list the 3 professional circuits. They work 60-80 hours a week or more, and then look forward to fishing on Saturday.
We don’t schedule our tournaments based on other tourneys. We take our club members’ schedules into consideration and try to pick a date that works for a majority.
I personally would give way to a pro or any tourney fisherman if I was not fishing a tourney.
But a lot of non-tournament fishermen are put off by the elitist attitude that many tournament fishermen have.
“I’m fishing for money, you should give way.”
“I want to catch big fish for tourneys, you need to release your trophies.”
“The grass is good for the fish, don’t control it so the non fishing community can enjoy the lake, especially if you own property on the lake, my right to fish takes precedence.”
I spent most of my summers as a kid at a camp in Louisiana on a small bayou. It wasn’t very wide, but wasn’t a no wake zone either. 99% of the non bass fishermen idled through that canal. The bass fishermen would blast through at 70 mph, while kids are paddling pirogues and swimming.
It’s often as though tourney fishermen expect non-tourney fishermen to give them respect, but it often doesn’t go both ways.

I drove a truck professionally for a while and I did it to make my living. I can assure you people didn't give me any free passes on the highway just because that's how I fed my family.

Agree John, just like some give way to the pros. Good for you! Then some don't. I don't drive a truck anymore give em hell if you want to.

Agree John, just like some give way to the pros. Good for you! Then some don't. I don't drive a truck anymore give em hell if you want to. I will always make way for anyone who signals their intent. I also check out the tournaments on a lake before going. If there is going to be a Bass Champs, TTO or TTO on a lake I was thinking of going to I will pick another. Fortunately in the metro mess there are plenty. I've never had a bad experience on the water with a tournament angler except for a few times when they were fishing the same tournament as I was. In those cases they crossed a line that would upset anyone so I do understand both views. If I know a BASS, FLW or Every-Dink-Counts pro tournament was going on I would certainly yield to the pro. Not because that's how he makes his money but because it's a community event and I wouldn't be "that guy." If that was my only "hole" on the lake I got other problems.
