Dad felt well enough to go fishing yesterday so we gave it a go.
I did not take a lot of pictures, but snapped a few.
We fished timber.
Shallowest we fished was 12 feet and deepest was 25 feet.
We actually caught several fish in 12 feet of water right at 12 feet.
Best bite was in 15 feet of water or deeper and the fish were 14 feet down.
Some bites were right at 15 feet in 15 feet of water.
1/16 and 1/8 ounce hand tieds.
I really don't think color mattered yesterday, but we used Green on Green and Purple Body with a yellow tail.
Our trick instead of using minnows or Crappie Nibbles we dipped the tails in Chartreuse Spike It. Dipped them right before we started fishing and it lasted all day long.
If there were fish on the timber you were fishing we knew in less than 10 seconds. We pulled 2-3 off several trees.
Lost several for a myriad of reasons.
Some of the bites they would give it this lite machine gun tap several times. We just held it still. Then Wham! Like they were killing it before they went to eat it.
Some bites were super lite and others they would absolutely SLAM IT! Others they were just sucking in the easy meal.
Morning bite was better than the afternoon bite for us.
ACC Rods. I used a 12 foot and Dad was using an 8 foot.
Line was 20 pound Power Pro Super Slick Braid in Aqua Green.
Vanish Gold Fluorocarbon Leader in 8 pound.
Jigs were Bubba's Baits from Lake Fork, Pepop's jigs, and Fearless jigs by Zach Church.
No Plastic or Live Bait used.
Water Temp was 87 when we first got on the water it was 92 when we came off at 4pm. (About 3 hours later than we should have came off)
We used the Neutrogena Sunscreen in 100 SPF.
We fished Tawokini.
We are ready for this heat to go and we are ready for the Fall.
A good mix of Blacks and Whites.
Ended the day with 40. We lost at least 20.
Fish were given to a Grandfather fishing with his Grandson.
Tight Lines to All.

My hat goes off to all the fishing guides that work in this heat every day.
You guys are an amazing asset to fishing and bringing smiles to lots of happy customers.
