i have done some research online, but also wanted to get yalls opinion. I have an eagle talon 120 that I purchased last year. while I really like, the seat is ridiculous. I would like to get something that seats off the bottom just a little bit and does not require a lot of drilling into the kayak. How have yall installed new seats, and any other modifications yall would recommend? Thanks guys.

Careful drilling into the seat area. It may cause cracks to form from the holes

Found this on youtube and might be helpful. Just remember, on the Eagle Talon, raising the seat will compromise the stability of the yak possibly especially at 30" in width. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sVQv-FsPEQ

Do you want better back support or just to be sitting higher? There are a lot of images and links if you google "eagle talon 12 seat upgrade".

I bought a stadium chair off amazon for my Lifetime Tahoma. Fits perfectly so a comfortable ride instead of a numb bum.

Found this on youtube and might be helpful. Just remember, on the Eagle Talon, raising the seat will compromise the stability of the yak possibly especially at 30" in width. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sVQv-FsPEQ Exactly! The guy in video mentions that he hasn't paddled the kayak since putting the new raised seat in.. hopefully he has at least experimented with his kayak by sitting on top of something in the original seat that will raise his Center of Gravity to the same height of new seat AND in conditions that aren't ideal. If he hasn't, he could be in for a shocking experience, especially in windy/choppy condtions. I understand the comfort and wet conditions of sitting so low with original seat... went through the same thing myself. Wouldn't dare put one of those on a 30' beam kayak myself for several reasons. 1. The kayak wasn't designed to have that type seat in it and the plastic in the area that comes in contact with seat frame might give way over time, especially if frame doesn't sit perfectly flat in all areas that come in contact with kayak... and still it might break through later on depending on your weight. 2. Hard to keep a design like that from shifting either side to side or forwards and backwards when conditions get worse than what you started out in. Sitting in a high chair that is throwing your weight side to side is the worst from a higher position. 3. Anchoring that chair will cause great stress wherever you drill.

It will be easier to sell now the way it is originally, than to try and sell it after you've had to do some plastic welding on the seat area.
Just one more cast!

Something like this cost a few more dollars, but is less of a commitment and can be tossed in the back if the wind kicks up and a lower center of gravity is needed... https://www.amazon.com/Driftsun-Alu...hy=9026945&hvtargid=pla-755168317893
