Got a cheap little Helix 7 that's all messed up and needs someone a lot smarter than I am.. Can't even get it to show bait on screen when it's loaded full screen on my HDS-8. Just lines showing.....I'll take ya to where the big girls live on Roberts, and we may even make it to the lake.

Are the HDS and Helix next to each other? What about Transducer location?

This may sound dumb, but are the lines vertical or horizontal? Vertical lines would lead me to think Interference, horizontal would mean you got problems with the unit. I spent 3 months working on my interference issues between my Ultrex and Helix. Its not completely gone yet either, but its very minimal now and only happens on occasion.

Screen is loaded with bait balls on HDS-8, nothing on Helix. The graph has horizontal lines. I just installed a dedicated power wire 14 gauge direct to the battery. There were vertical lines, too, but they're gone now after installing power wire.

Restore defaults first and see what happens. Pretty good right outta the box. Fine tune from there

are you turning off the 8? sounds like interference

change the frequencies.. don't run both the same frequency. it will cause chaos. turn the lowrance off once you find bait and see if it starts showing up on the bird.

Are the horizontal lines on SI, or DI and 2D? I am not a tech so take this with a grain of salt, but horizontal line in 2D would indicate a unit issue since the graph images are essentially a time line that feeds horizontally which is why interference is typically vertical since it is interference in the image at that point and tine.

I would bet if you called humminbird right now they could at least eliminate a unit issue and give you an idea of what a horizontal line would mean. I have called them a number of times while off the water and their recommendations have helped on the next trip, or they have told me to send the unit in for repair.

Just not what I'm expecting to see since I had a Helix 12 & 9 on my old boat and they worked flawlessly. Biggs is gonna go out with me...Just trying to nail a date down. I know I don't have everything set right. I'm an absolute dummy when it comes to electronics, and a lot of other stuff, too. Thanks for all the inquiries.
