I live off Wellborn Rd in Bryan, and I’m looking for some relatively close bank fishing spots. I know about Lake Bryan and Somerville, but I’m specifically looking to do some river fishing. The girlfriend and I have fished under the bridge down 21 a few times, but I was interested in finding a few other spots to try. I’ve heard about Batts Ferry Rd and Koppe Bridge Rd in Wellborn, but the posts were on Kayak Fishing forums and only mentioned the roads as good launch access, with no mention of bank fishing. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

River access to the brazos is very limited. There are no public ramps between Marlin and Richmond let alone any bank spots. There are some access but you will have to drive to get there Also a few places to access the Navasota. If you really want to get on some river fishing, I'm a local guide in the B/CS area. I fish the Brazos (Marlin area), Colorado river, and the Trinity River, by boat. Duck-Tails Guide Service,

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

I grew up in Wellborn. Batts Ferry is probably better?
But very shallow. We would wade down there catching catfish using Hellgrammites.
Theres used to be a sandbar/Island wed camp on..
