Skipjack Herring (Alosa chrysochloris). Oh and since you caught it on a fly rod it would have been a state record since the skipjack herring category is currently vacant. You need to get my book, "The Art of Fishing for Records" so you don't let the next state record get away lol.

Is the Oklahoma record vacant only because the fish was caught in Oklahoma waters?

If you were fishing on the Texas side, then the fish would have been a state record since Texas has a separate fly fishing category that is vacant. If you were fishing in Oklahoma, they do not have a separate category for fly fishing, and the fish was probably not a record since the existing skipjack herring pole and line record for Oklahoma is 3 pounds 6 ounces. Texas has an extremely robust records and awards program if you are chasing fishing records.

I didn't realize those would go that far into fresh. I caught some a few weeks ago down in galveston area.
