There were a great multitude of those things up in Iowa when I was growing up. Unlike all the other kids, I would catch my lighting bugs during the day when it was easy.

Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's an EMP!

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Best theory I have seen. They were thick in the early 90's. Fire Ants showed up. Went the way of the Quail about the same time. I have not seen any of either in many years up here north of Ray Roberts.

We have them in our backyard from May to early July. Quite a few.

I got bunches at my place.

Just want to make folks smile, and spit coffee on their keyboard.

so much for the fire ant theory. I use to see them when I traveled to northern AL. I am thinking that fire ants landed in Mobile but it may have been somewhere in Fl.. I use to see hundreds of them as a kid growing up in Richardson. I think the decline is related to the use of pesticides. Pesticides are not very selective. I use some ant spray inside, wasp killer, and fire ant mound stuff but that is about it. I don't use any kind of whole yard stuff and haven't for many years.
