Fished Mustang Island surf Tuesday morning July 23rd. Wind was NW 8kn'ish, blowing out to sea. Water was excellent, margarita green, waves still a bit high but fishable. Topwater from first light til 9:40. Caught & unhooked 5 trout, one was over 15, had two dozen (+/-) of the usual blowups & short hooked up action over the 3 plus hours.

Waded to the third sandbar, had a severe blowup on a very, very, nice trout, came unbuttoned after 5 seconds or so. Wind got to stirring things up after 9:30 and packed it in for the morning. Trout were slapping at the baits a bit more than grabbing. Still a great morning.

Fished south Jetty this morning, 24th, on gulf side in a 12/ish knot NE wind. Blowing across channel to gulf side. First time I've fished the coast in air conditioning in July. Very comfortable breeze.

Gulf side was smooth some rollers coming in, but again Cuervo colored water.

Caught & released 4 trout, all undersized, on top water, had exactly 14 blowups in 2.5 hours. Nice weather to fish, fishing could have been better but a NE wind changes things a bit in what is done. Talked to some very good people out there.

That sounds like a fun time!! I would be absolutely useless to society if I lived close to the saltwater! It would be a nonstop fishing funfest!
