I had 19 pallets of Zoysa sod laid in my yard 2 weeks ago. Since then I have been watering it like crazy.
What I can not believe is how many weeds are in the yard. All kinds of weeds, everywhere.
The previous yard was removed, tilled, new sand laid then the new sod.

I am shocked at all the weeds. I thought this type of grass did well in choking out the weeds.

Any recommendations? Have not put any chemicals or treatments on the yard yet, As I said, it just was put down 2 weeks ago.

When you tilled the existing soil and then started dumping water to it you woke up dormant weed seeds.

If they are grassy weeds, you will have to mow them constantly or pull them. Obama�s epa did away with the only chemical that effectively killed grassy weeds. If they are broadleaf weeds, spray 2,4-d herbicide on them.

Did you have a lot of those type weeds before the install or are you thinking they came with the sod.

I went through the exact same scenario a couple years ago. Took two seasons to weed out the weeds.

Jman will know the answer to your question. I would surmise that the weeds were in the Zoysia sod that you bought. The Zoysia we had installed on our front yard did not have a weed one in it. Yours could be a bad batch.

I am still working on getting the weeds in my lawn after 2 years.

that stuff ant cheep...i had 20 pallets put in myself...had a few weeds...simazine in Oct/Feb will get'm under control
