We've got 3 guys in our lake neighborhood wanting to go in on a metal building on a concrete slab to house our boats and jet skis. Has anyone done this that has good dimensions in mind of how we might think about laying it out? One thought was 40x60x12 with 3 roll-up doors. One guy said to only install one large roll-up door and park each boat slanted like a parking lot but I think multiple doors would be more efficient. Something like this photo below (doesn't look like it's loading)? Don't be scares to show me CHEAPER options as I'm out of cash this year and want to be as thrifty yet as practical as I can. Thank you TFF.

IMO definitely go 3 doors it will also help split up the space. If it was me going in on it I would paint stripes on the floor for each one's storage area.

3 doors with dividing walls so if one of ya leaves the other 2 still have a private storage and y'all can lease out the empty.
I gotta agree with Hop on this one. Now if I were building it I would put ac in my bay, also an area for a couch and recliner, a freezer for ice or an ice machine , a fridge for beer, a TV with some direct tv satellite, probably a poker table and a bathroom with shower.

one question I have is who's property is it going to be built on? if owned by one of y'all do you have plans on a 99 yr. lease to the other 2 so if it ever sold they still have their storage?

I would agree on the 3 doors and partitioned off between each section. I could just see "hey, can I put this on your side, I'll move it in a couple of weeks" and it doesn't move, just gets added to.

Build it 50 x 50 x 16 with three 14 x 14 doors and dividing walls. This will give you three bays right at 16' wide. The 14' doors are good if you ever need to house boats with T Tops or wake board towers either now or down the road.

Don't do it. Build your own. These joint ventures NEVER end well and they all end up in court. One of the partners will invite his brother in law to re-build his 72 volkswagen, one will never clean his junk out, it will be on your side of the garage, one will get divorced and his wife will lay claim to the whole building. Seriously, if you don't have the money to build your own, wait until you do.
