Like has been said go to Garrison Brothers. There is a chocolate store on main street called Quintessential Chocolates, they make what is basically a shot of Garrisons in a chocolate shell.
Old German Bakery & Restaurant and the Airport Diner are great breakfast spots. If you can get in Pasta Bella Italian Restaurant is good for lunch. The Cabernet Grill Texas Wine Country Restaurant is the probably the best place for a fancy diner out.

I've looked at it but never had the party to need that many accommodations . Last time there we stayed at the ,Inn on the Creek, right off Maine and right by the museum (<3 minute walk). It was clean and private.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools

All the above listed. Also the Texas Rangers have a museum there!

Jennies has the best burgers in town. They ground brisket and use that to make the patties. Hondo's can be a fun place for dinner. Live music, full bar, inside/outside seating - Good chicken fried chicken.
Take your wallet. That town isn't cheap.

Perfect time of the year. We always stop at a roadside setup on the way home to grab a bunch.

I enjoyed touring LBJ's ranch. Not far away. The Sauer-Beckmann living history farm is pretty cool, too.
