I will have to check. The transducer that came on my trolling motor was a Mega SI. Does this transducer have Chirp as well? The head unit chirps the transducer. All the transducer does is provide the quality of chirp returns. The gen 2 solix mega + transducers comes with dual spectrum HW 2d built in which is a higher quality chirp 2d. The gen 1 Comes with dual beam 2d but it does have the capability of dual spectrum HW The dual spectrum has no relation to the si/di frequencies however

I would like to upgrade my console unit to the to get to mega SI/DI. I am currently running a 998C HD SI, are there updates that help the 998 to get to better SI/DI? I have been out of fishing for awhile and the technology has really taken off.

The 998 does not have Down Imaging, it has composite DI views created by blending the two SI pulses. The Helix MEGA SI units in the 8", 9", 10", and 12" display sizes have true Down Imaging with a DI piezo in the SI transducer.

Change it to DD MM SS Enter the numbers without the ones after the decimal--no space for decimal seconds. After you are finished, you can go back and return the format back to default DD MM.MMM That co-ordinate is on Lake Somervile in about 15' of water around a point from a boat ramp.

If I mounted the transducer backwards on my trolling motor, would that effect the boat direction that is being shown on the screen ? I guess Im asking where is the boat getting its signal for direction..? from the transducer or the head unit...?? thanks

Your right side would then be your left. Depending on which unit you have , there is a transducer orientation setting that will reverse the sides.. if you were to mount it backwards it would still display the right and left sides correctly on the unit

The GPS is in the head unit and has nothing to do with the transducer

I replaced my GPS ONLY puck on my 1198 with a GPS+Heading Sensor Puck. My projected course line seems to be off quite a bit at slow troll speeds. I did not install the puck next to any electro mag interference sources ( I used a compass to verify a suitable mounting location).
Is there any calibration that I need to perform now that I have a Puck with the heading sensor built in? If so, could someone point me in the right direction (no pun intended). This is on an 1198si unit.
Thanks

Thanks As stated on your BBC post, review page 16 in the manual that came with the antenna.
