I would give some strong consideration to changing hooks. Trust me when I say you will hook up more times and lose less fish coming unbuttoned. #1 straight shank Trokar, #1 wide gap Owner, anything similar, you can hook up weedless, good to go.

If it's working no need to change up. You're not going to be in clear enough water this weekend to have to worry about it.

I agree on the simple palamor knot with the tag end through. I like the Owner Mosquito Hook in a 1 or 1/0. The swivel hooks seem like another point of failure and also something to get snagged in the grass.

20 pound braid to 8-10 lb flouro on a spinning set up. Just an aside, one thing that has really helped my catch ratio is switching to a neko style hook from an octopus style hook.

Those get tangled up too much. I use an Owner 1/0 rigging hook.

I don't use braid at all because I use a bait caster for drop shotting. 10-15 pound test Fluorocarbon line.

I use a bait caster and 12lb InvisX on Tabke Rock. I don’t want them digging down to the trees on that lake. It works good too.

I know the lead line matters but does the braid size really matter

I don't think the braid size matters if you are using a leader. I just use the 30lb braid because it is about the same size as the 8lb fluoro leader and I think makes a cleaner knot when they are the same size.

You guys sure like tying a lot of knots just to catch some MLF 1 pound dinks.

My current dropshot setup is 65 pound braid to a 5/0 hook with a 1 ounce weight under that. Goes right through the grass

Normal drop shot on spinning gear -- 8 to 10lb InvizX leader to 20-30lb braid.
Heavy cover drop shot on baitcasting gear- 12 to 15lb InvizX
