Does anyone have any recommendations for installing LED lights in the compartments on a bass boat ? Your input would be appreciated .

There used to be a guy that went by "MULKEY" on here that sold them cut to fit. He is in Garland. I have not seen him post in a while
That's where I got mine. I think it was "Mobus Lighting" or something like that.

I added these to my compartments. I had to run a few wires. The LED came from Ebay, 16' rolls for $8 each. One of the pictures is of the tilt switch mounted to the hatch; open the lights come on and turn off when closed. The switches were like 5 for five dollars, also on Ebay. The LED's have 3M adhesive strips on the back. if they don't stick use some 3M weather strip adhesive or silicone. After working with these lights i found a youtube video on how to solder new leads on them; so you can cut them add new leads an create custom lengths. After adding the leads you can heat shrink the soldered connections to cover them; look factory. This sounds like a lot of work but it was fairly simple and cheap. The picture was taken in my garage with the house lights turned off. All the light in the compartments came from the LEDs. I love them and they work great, I have three more compartments to go on the back deck. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/07/full-30609-17819-img_20190709_202247984.jpg) Same kind of lights on a different project.

I would steer clear of the cheaper brands of waterproof LED strips. I have purchased dozens of these and almost all have failed in within a year or two as the silicone waterproofing coating hardens and cracks, breaking the pcb of the led strip in the process. Expose them to heat or uv and they fail even sooner. I would use modules similar to these: https://www.amazon.com/Injection-Wa...&hvtargid=pla-450167825965&psc=1Another option is to get non-waterproof led strips and put then in white PEX tubing and seal the ends for waterproofing. These last far longer.

I replaced with a couple of Shoreline 8" submersibles. That is what I would recommend.

Definitely not saying they are the best, but I bought to of the waterproof led strips on amazon. The adhesive that comes on them does suck lol.. So I peeled in and used double sided gorilla tape and ran them to a switch. They are under the side rail in my aluminum boat. Just under a year so far been good to me. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/07/full-110141-18057-041e4ef1_edec_4e04_adc7_ba4474dbcb4e.jpeg)

Agreed, mine have been in service for 4 years. At $8 for 16' I can find away to make them stick to a surface. Its not that big a project to repair or replace if they get damaged.

I used these in my compartments: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019MS9MM2They are cheap led's but ive had no issues for 6 months. I used crimp on male/female spade connectors for the connections that way when they eventually go bad I can pop another one on in 30 seconds. You can do the whole boat twice over for $15 including wire, hard to beat. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/07/full-101008-18712-20190101_182141.jpg) Also used these in the rails: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DL5MYJM
