My bother has an issue with his engine. Its not happening all the time. When you start the engine, sometime theres nothing wrong, runs quiet and good power. Then you can stop, fish a while and then start it up and everything seems fine until you put it in gear and it has almost no power and acts like its starving for fuel. A separate elec fuel pump was installed, but still the same problem. Whats weird is you can stop the engine, wait a few minutes, start it back up and its like nothing was ever wrong. I feel its a computer module issue seeing how its intermittent. Some days you can go all day and nothing happens. Sometimes itll happen every time. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds like a faulty heat sensor causing it to go into safe mode. This only allows you to run in idle mode. Also if the oil level sensor is stuck, it will do the same thing. The safe mode allows you to get back to dock with minimal damage.
