I am looking for an aluminum v hull john boat. Plain Jane nothing fancy. I want to put a 9.9 on it. Where is a good place to find a new or used one?

then you may want to find a zipboat lake.

I believe there are reasons you see mostly flatbottoms on rivers than v- bottoms.

Great boats! I have a little 1553 and it's one of the best little rigs I've ever been in
We duck hunt and fish out of it and it's very stable

Sweet, do you have more pics with different angles and your top up? Is it wood?

Thanks for the kind words! Yes, it is a plywood boat that has been fiberglassed using Epoxy and fiberglass cloth. The boat looks heavy but is actually exceptionally light at around 600lbs for the hull that measures about 16' x 8' wide. Lighter than most aluminum boats in it's class. A 35 HP Evinrude pushes it very nicely at about 30 mph with pretty good gas mileage considering it's a 2-stroke.

I build boats as a hobby and I wrote a book about building this particular rig. In it I have many photographs and construction details about boat building in general. You can get the paperback book on Amazon here.. Building a Wooden Jon Boat
You can also visit my website and download a PDF copy if you prefer... BuildingWoodenBoats.com

OP said he wanted nothing fancy and only a 9.9 so I don't imagine he wants to spend $12-16K on one. hmmm

I would look on FB Marketplace and you will be surprised at how many nice boats are on there. cheers
