is it normal for some water to accumulate in the collection pan on a newly installed Trane air handler?

Looking at the picture, I don't think it's normal to have lumber in the pan.

in your install it is probably normal, I wouldn't lay an air handler/coil on its side but plenty of them are installed that way, anyway, keep an eye on it if i gets to any appreciable level

Is that unit strapped up with 2x4's and the pan screwed to the 2x4's???? If so you got serious problems coming

Looks like the straps and pan are screwed to the 2 x 4s on the side. It could work fine if those are long wood screws

I can tell you Trane units pull a lot of water out of the air.

Mine usually has at least a 1/4" stream draining if the unit is running.
