This is not Tawakoni, but I wanted to share this crazy sight. I took this picture after I had trailered my boat. If I had not just finished washing it I would have been tempted to have launched it again to join in on this action.
By the time I got the truck stopped and got my phone out the window, the Hybrids right off the bow of this guy's boat had sounded. But the massive school of white bass was still going strong. I really don't think they seen the Hybrids. My fishing buddy and I could see palm size shad flying out of the water.
Sorry for the back to back posts, but I wanted to add a caption separate from the photo above.
This was about a half mile away from where the boat had all the White Bass. In the foreground of the White Bass frenzy you can see a shool of Hybrids. It might not show up in the post but it is visible in the original photo. And just like always (at least for my limited experience) the Hybrids don't stay up for very long.
Pictures show better detail than I thought they would.
In real life it was very easy to see the Whites and Hybrids churning the surface of the water. In the last 12 months I've only ran into one school of Whites on top...maybe 4 schools of Hybrids. I'm not sure if it normal but they are only up for a couple minutes at most. I've only caught one Hybrid from those schools. My wife and I caught 15 or so Whites from the one school I've seen while on the lake. .
We had some early schooling on Sunday morning and could see Shad popping out of the water. We ended up boating 13 Hybrids and a bunch of sandbass.
I saw ya'll at the ramp Sunday morning, I really wanted to introduce myself but I was too busy trying to figure out why my boat wouldn't go in reverse!! We figured it out about the time ya'll were pulling away.
Went noon to 6pm yesterday (Wednesday). All the sandies you want. Good lake. Struggled finding hypers though
Mepps caught most. Good luck guys!
Congratulations on the sandies. My youngest son and I started to go yesterday afternoon, but I changed my mind and we stayed home. I'm kicking myself after seeing your post. We should be able to go this afternoon, hopefully we'll find them too.
