I have been talking to a few TFF'ers about this.
Do we need to have a special permit to put on a Non Profit Kayak Tournament? All entry fee will be given to Non Profit Charity.
After this question is answered i will put out what we are trying to do.

No permit needed. Also depends on location. State park etc...

I would think no permit is necessary for a few friends getting together and placing a friendly wager among friends for most and/or biggest fish. Disclaimer: I've never been wrong, but I have been mistaken a time or two.

If money is changing hands permits may be required. Best to call your local game warden to make sure.
You get out of it what you put into it!

No you won't need a permit. I help run KAFW Tournament Series. There's really only one thing to be aware of. You cannot exchange money in a state park. Other than that you should be good to go. A word of caution. It would be in your best interest to check into event insurance, if anything was to happen you would be held liable.

What does the OP that just showed up by my name mean? It typically means Original Poster in internet speak, as in you started the thread.

Permits are subject to the location/impoundment rules/guidelines. TP&W governs the guidelines imposed on the impoundment.

More to come very soon. I am looking into the permit thing and Insurance thing.
it will be a simple Fun Tourney.
I will be posting What I have in mind. But i want to make sure that i am doing everything correctly.
it will not be for people that is all about the money. All funds will be going to a non Profit.
Stay tuned.
