Last year I had to do a lot of sorting at Lake Lewisville. This year crappie fishing has been insane. I think this flooding has been really good for the spawns, or maybe not. I didn't even catch a dink today. Just big ole fatties. Maybe the dinks are in the flooded stuff? Or the bridges maybe. I haven't been fishing those.

When I have fished the bridges at RR I have been catching smaller fish

After several years of high water, the lake has produced tons of bait. With more bait comes better fish. At least that's my thoughts.

Preserving Texas fishing heritage one lure at a time.

I agree, we have decided to only keep 11" or larger fish on Lewisville and may soon go to 12" minimum. Today I limited out by 11:15 AM. About half were on jigs with the rest on minnows or minnow parts. (sneak attack)

For sure on the bait. I can catch fat head minnows with my cast net right now. Bait everywhere.

What size net do you use for the minnows? I'm trying to decide between 3/16 and 1/4.

Last year Ray Roberts had big ones all year, this year so far there are lots in the 9 to 10.5" range. Next year will be another good crop.

Years of high water when the spawn is taking place it producing good year classes of fish. Should continue for a while I would think.

Bridges always have more dinks than spots away from them.

Better fish across the board at all lakes for me this year. Was at Texoma a few weeks ago and boated 36 fish and only 2 were shorts. All keepers were of the 12" plus variety. Can't wait to see what the fall brings!!
