Last summer my son and I went to Galveston to do some surf fishing.
We would throw out line baited with shrimp and catch a whiting then cut it in half and throw out and catch a shark in the 3ft 9lb range and gafftop over 6 lbs. When we switched over to wire leader so the sharks would not break off we started to only catch sharks..
We had this happening for a couple of hours until we had to leave to go home.
Line was never in the water more than 3-4 minutes before we would have a shark.
Wading back and forth to the beach took up the majority of our time.
The shark would be a good ways off to the side as we waded back to beach and you would see fish start jumping out of the water as the shark swam by.

At the 91st street fishing pier we have had afternoons where we had to quit because we caught so many fish we were too exhausted to cast and bring any more fish in.

For fresh water, we went out on an air boat below Denison dam. It was middle of the afternoon in August with little breeze. When we got there no water was being let out. None of us were too excited about our chances of catching much. Found a spot there where every cast with live or dead bait resulted in a striper. Not only was everyone catching a bunch of fish we were also catching several overs. Fortunately guides threw a lot back so we got to be out on the water for a while.

Wildest time was fishing out of a zodiac off Cocos Island a little over 300 miles west coast of Costa Rica. There were 3 of us in the zodiac and we had one hand line out. Every pass by the edge of one reef we were hooking into a rainbow runner. It was quite a challenge to try to get enough leverage in the zodiac to pull the line in by hand and between the waves and the fight we were thrown all over that dinghy. Brought back enough fish to have a couple of nice meals for the whole dive boat of ~20 divers plus crew.

It is memories like these that keep me going when there are not bites.
