Thinking about taking my 6 year old to Lake Murray today to fish this afternoon. What's the chance I can find some smallmouth for him to catch? Small fish are just fine with him. I live on Texoma and fish Texoma almost exclusively, but don't want to get the bass boat out today. Thinking about taking my little aluminum boat and fish Murray for first time. Any advice for us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've never fished it but I hear it is loaded with little smallies (and the occasional good one) so you should be able to have some fun based off that. Not sure what shape the lake is in right now though

That's what I've heard as well. Don't have GPS or lake map on electronics so we will need to be careful running the lake

The Smallmouths are in the southern half of the lake. Downsize your bait and line as there are plenty of 12" Smallmouth. A 3" Ned rigged TRD or 3" wacky worm on 6 lb line with a light spinning rod will work. It can be entertaining on the proper setup.
