Way to windy to get momma out on the boat Sunday so we hit some golf course ponds out in our area. Went mid-afternoon so we had the courses pretty much to ourselves. We were tossing yellow/black spinners and watermelon plastics and had a blast. The two of us caught over 40 LMB (yes momma beat me) and I lost count of the number of brim we caught. We had 4 bass over 3lbs with the largest hitting almost 5 1/2.

Wish I knew some GC ponds that would allow me to fish. City of Arlington GC ponds are off limits due to liability concerns. Lucky man !

4Weight, I am not sure I could say that I had "permission" to fish the ponds. More like they were close to a parking area and no one was on the fairways so I thought we would stroll over and see if there were any fish.

Not many golf courses allow fishing. Most are private! I know of only one course that allows fishing and the ponds are completely away from the fairways and greens. The current golf pro allows the fishing but has stated that when a new golf pro comes in he can change the fishing rule at anytime he wants to! For the most part golf courses do not allow fishing period on their property. Glad you caught some fish and had a good time. Side Note: As stated already above, mainly for liability purposes.

I did manage to find a pond on Monday evening with some little guys in there and they loved the weightless Senko. My gut is there are some good fish in there but most of the pond is accessed on homeowner's property.

Currently, there is an abandoned country club near me with 3 ponds on it near the main road. I've been thinking of fishing there, but wonder if I'll get harassed by a neighborhood person.
I guess there is only one way to find out.

Golf course ponds, hmm??? I prefer ninja style tactics. The biggest issue for me is the amount of snakes. The only thing that scares them is the mower. No trespassing warnings are only good for 6 months too!

No trespassing warnings are only good for 6 months too! I think they last a year starting the day of delivery. Some states the warning is permanent and can only be voided with the property owners request. Signs on the other hand never expire along with purple paint. Attorneys will tell you, If you think the property is private stay off of it"!

If they try to run you off, just tell them you're trying to retrieve a ball you lost last week. Say it was autographed by Tiger Woods.

I would not fish golf course ponds if the property provides "no trespassing" notice, such as a fence or signs. In Texas you can be charged with a criminal trespass misdemeanor and golf courses have been know to take action on criminal trespass because of liability. If they let you fish and you get hit with a ball and hurt they are liable. You probably can talk you way out of a violation the first time, but is it worth the chance? Here are the regulations from the Texas Parks and Wildlife website:
Section 30.05, Texas Penal Code, provides that a person commits an offense if the person enters or remains on property of another without effective consent, and the person: •had notice that the entry was forbidden, or •received notice to depart, but failed to do so.
"Notice" means: an oral or written communication by the owner or someone with apparent authority to act for the owner; or fencing or other enclosure obviously designed to exclude intruders or to contain livestock; or a sign or signs posted on the property reasonably likely to come to the attention of intruders, indicating that entry is forbidden; or the placement of identifying purple paint marks on trees or posts on the property. If purple paint is used, then the purple paint must be vertical lines of not less than eight inches in length and not less than one inch in width; placed so that the bottom of the mark is not less than three feet from the ground or more than five feet from the ground; and placed at locations that are readily visible to any person approaching the property and no more than: 100 feet apart on forest land or 1,000 feet apart on land other than forest land.
Additionally, the visible presence on the property of a crop grown for human consumption that is under cultivation, in the process of being harvested, or marketable if harvested at the time of entry is considered "notice" that entry is forbidden.
