Running a 25k trail race in August. Wondering if anyone else is running the Alamo City Ultra?

Here is the course layout. Going to be pretty brutal coming from someone who is a road runner only. Started running trails for my long runs on Sunday mornings to try and prepare.

I'll ask my little sister what she knows about it. She's been running in marathons for a long time.
I'm not sure if any of her stuff was off road.

Good friend of mine does that craziness. Ran the Western 100 last year and finished it. He is 61. We go camping at Lake Ouachita every year and he will take off on a trail and do 15 miles then come back and start slamming beers.

Trail conditions would be the least of my worries. Running / San Antonio / August sounds like a horrible combination

TX in August sounds rough. Earlier this month I did my first 1/2 marathon, and it was a trail run (not very rugged) with 3K ft of elevation gains mostly at the start. Lots of fun. I hope you have a great time

Very cool! I have only done three races. Two 5k's and a half-marathon in February. Finish time for the half was 1:51:22.

46 years young!! And I think run is a general term. It looks like from many of the videos I watch people power walk the rugged steep climbs and run the flats/descents.

Running means falling, every single time, in my case. I only run when something very bad is about to happen, something that I know could be worse than falling.

only two reasons to run something is trying to catch you or you are trying to catch something. Look at nature Lions don't run for fun they run to catch the gazelle. Gazelle's don't run for fun they run to get away from the lions.

Last time I ran I pulled something.... A beer from the fridge.
