my mother noticed a hole in her garden a few months ago. then the hole gradually got bigger to about 4 inches in diameter. this morning she found this snake next to the hole. she's not fond of snakes of any type so she asked me to take care of it. anybody know what type of snake this is? and how to remove the all the snakes and get rid of the nest. If its nonvenomeous, I'd like to relocate it if all possible

Can you post a better pic of the head, especially the eye. Its really fat and has a short stubby tail which is similar to a Water Moccasin.

Rough earth snakes show to grow less than a foot in length. That one looks too big. Its hard to tell without something to use for scale.

Heres what a juvenile cotton mouth looks like. Coloring can vary some but it looks nothing like what you have. Cotton mouths get darker the older they get. They actually start off brightly colored with a green tail.

doesn't have a diamond shaped head so isn't poisonous...only danger is that they might make you hurt yourself...
