Myself and fishing buddies Jeff and Steve fished the Guadalupe River east of the Dunlap river bed! We located several nice brush piles in 14 to 16 feet of water and caught a nice bunch of Crappie. We also found a nice bunch of Bluegill in 6 to 8 feet of water holding close to the bank by overhanging tree limbs and brush stacks. (Brush stack is another name I give for brush piles that hang out of the water). The water is fairly clear with a strong current. We fished from kayaks from 7am till 2p and caught well over 75 fish. Jeff caught his PB bass which was 23" in length and weighed (non certified scale) 9.97 lbs. Bass was released! Fish were caught on small crank baits, soft plastics, jigs, and Gulp Alive Leaches. Chartreuse/Blue,and Chartreuse/Red were the colors that got the best results. The bass was caught on a small crank bait. Most of the fish were released but we kept some for a Saturday night fish fry! All in all a great day on the Guadalupe River! woot

Great post LO! It has been awhile since I have seen a crappie catch in the Bluegill section! Hopefully they will stay on those brush piles throughout the year. Again good job guys. Also congratulations on your friend's PB! Just under being in the DD club!

Side Note: What were you guys using to catch the crappie? If jigs, what color?

Sounds like a great day. Thanks for the report. I was wondering if the flow had slowed down yet. Where is the Dunlap "river bed"?

Thanks guys for the replies. Gitter: Jigs Chartreuse/Red and Chartreuse/Black were used on the Crappie! J-Moe: The Dunlap River Bed was called Lake Dunlap. To me it is now a river bed! Judging by the news it's going to be a river bed for a long time. taz

Side Note: Steve and Jeff took all of the pictures of the bass. I know the fish has been posted on Steve's Facebook page. He only post pictures on his Facebook. (Facebook friends only section). I will see what I can do but don't hold your breath! juggle
