Mustang auto inflatable. You have to remind yourself to take it off at the end of the day.

Okay, how many of you have actually used an inflatable and I am not talking about wearing it?

Mustang auto inflate. First I've developed low blood pressure and sometimes when sitting for a while I get light headed when i stand up (can take a min or so to happen). So if I was to pass out I'm set. Second I fish so much timber as I assume many of y'all do and if I fall and head hits a stump I don't have to worry about pulling the tab.

Standard life vest because I wouldnt want my life depending on a mechanical device that could fail to deploy.

Not only could they fail to deploy but a more common scenario is they unexpectedly inflate.
This could cause one to want to take it off or if inflated when get to the boat decide to go out without a life jacket on.

I have used a Mustang with HIT for many years is flooding rains and have never had an unexpected inflation. As for wanting to take it off and go without, I always carry a regular life jacket as a backup in case I have an extra guest or forget an leave the inflatable in the shop or house. So far every time it was time to replace the inflator I would step off the boat (with a partner in the boat) to verify it would still work and have never had a failure. Now for the melt out pill type, I have seen numerous ones of them deploy in a heavy rain.

Yeah most of the newer auto inflatable PFD's inflate only when under pressure so you have to be somewhat submerged in the water before it will inflate.

You get out of it what you put into it!

Try wearing a standard vest all day in the Texas 95-100+ temps. I agree I don't like the idea of the possibility of automatic type not functioning.

I have saved old bobbins and cartridges from past change outs. I think I will put an old set back in my inflatable some time, jump in and see how it goes.
