Ethanol free out by Cedar Creek is $4 gal. I afraid to see what the only Marina on the lake charges for it.

I pay $2.99 for 87 octane here in Alabama. But most stations have one or more pumps that are ethanol free.

why does non ethanol cost more? Because the Fed subsidizes the production of corn based fuel. Without the subsidy, it would cost more. Why do you think no President wants to remove the subsidy. Because Iowa holds the first Presidential primary.

Direct subsidies went away in 2013. They continued to subsidize the industry by offsetting some of the new equipment costs, mostly blender pumps, but I believe that is gone now too.
Ethanol is just cheaper than gasoline. It has less energy potential but a higher octane (113) than gasoline.
E10 when mixed with gasoline raises the octane level so an E10 gas is really a mixture of a lower grade gas with ethanol to produce a higher octane gas. I imagine since they sell much less non ethanol gas that influences the cost.
