I have been using jigs since the mid eighties and will continue to do so but at times when night fishing I enjoy a cork and minnow for some relaxed fishing. I have not owned a minnow bucket in at least 20 years so need some advice on a good setup.

Thanks guys

I use a small old Igloo cooler with an aerator. Throw in a couple ice cubes once in a while and your minnows should live all night.

I'm personally a fan of the Engel 19 quart.

I've got the 30 Quart as well, but I like the 19 quart for my personal needs when using minnows.

Good Luck finding whatever fits best for your needs.

The Engel 19 qt is very good. Frabill also makes a couple good buckets, Styrofoam lined with aerator that work well at much less cost. You can make your own using the 25 qt igloo with an aerator. For the money, the Frabill is great.

I have one of the small 8 qt Frabill that I was using on my kayak. Works great, easily holds 3-4 dozen minnows, so I just started using it when I bought my boat.

I use an insulated minnow bucket with aerator. I freeze a water bottle to put in the water to keep my minnows alive & active. It lasts for several hours & you can keep a spare in the cooler if your water starts getting warm.

I used a small cooler with a Mino-Mizer for years & liked it very well. It runs off a 6 volt lamp battery or can be converted to a 12 volt battery. It recirculates your water by misting it inside the bucket or cooler. It oxygenates & cools the water when it mists it & will run for days on one battery. The only reason I quit using it was that I accidentally left it out in the rain for several days & I corroded the motor so badly it wouldn't run.

Engel 19 quart, I have a 12V aerator that I got at Cabelas that I clips on to one of my trolling motor batteries. This comes with two ports for air tubes.
Best investment I've made. I can put one in the minnow bucket and I have one that has a suction cup I can stick on the bottom of my live well.
Keeps minnows alive for days...hot, hot days I'll carry a few frozen water bottles and put one in ever 2-3 hours.. The key is also keeping the lid closed.

I find the recirculating pump is the best, if possible. but aerator is a minimum requirement for me.
