Ouch !! LargeMouthTripp that looks awful, hope you got it out with minimal damage.

My fishing buddy sent me this a few weeks ago, he is a long time member here so I will withhold his name. That's his big toe..

Buddy buried a hook at his house when i picked him up one morning at 4:30, snipped off the o ring and other two hooks, looped the line and had him press down on the hook eye, had him count to 3 and I yanked on 1.5:), popped out with no pain(he said), didn't tell him until we got to the lake that it was the first time I'd tried it and had no clue if it'd work.

After over 50 years on the earth without a single bad fishhook incident I hubbed one all the way into my thumb last week at Hubbard Creek. Very similar to the OPs pictures. Very uncomfortable for a while getting bass off and getting hook off the crank bait to perform this technique. The actual popping the hook out? Quick & painless! Saved a trip to ER, $$$, and a great day of fishing. Everyone should memorize this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v8Di1wiOq-E

I know my luck I'd try the line removal method, and would end up just ripping a huge hole in my skin.

Buried her deep didn't you?

I pinned two of mine at one time a few years back. No fun at all.

a girl on my boat was standing behind me getting her pic taken with a sandbass dangling on a slab. it was dangling about 2 feet down. I set the hook on a fish, when I did I hit her rod, broke her rod, then it jerked the hook out of the fishes mouth and straight up into her chin. craziest thing I've ever seen. [Linked Image]
needless to say I didn't do the braid trick on her. to the hospital she went. haven't heard from her in 7 years. lol

I stuck one just like that except on my index finger. That's a good way to realize just how many nerves are in your fingertips.

Tried a bunch of ways to get it out until finally going to the ER and cutting it out. I don't think the braided line trick will work from that angle and with all that soft tissue, but I would love to be wrong. Have any of you guys been successful with that trick on a fingertip buried like the OP?

On the coast we wade fish a lot.
I was waved down by a wade fisherman that was wading high thigh deep. He had caught a nice red on a top water and it went between his legs. Wade fisherman essentially had his ankles hooked together by the front and back hooks on spook type topwater. He was inching along to get back to shallow water/back to his boat which was about 500 yards away.

I won't take a treble hook off without pliers. Just decided a while back not going to do it. Now you can still get hooked, but figure odds are better to not have all those extra barbs exposed. With that said, need serious wood to knock or I'll get hooked with a 5/0.
