So. You left it in there long enough to return to the ramp, remove the crank, and get in the car?
No way. Id have just tore it out, super glued my self back to good, and kept fishing. It obviously hurts, and I admit mine certainly did. But it hurts less when its out.
The only one I had to go to get a shot to kill the pain to get out. 3/0 strike king spinner bait trailer hook. I could feel it when I moved the thumb joint. Lol
There are a number of videos out on quick, easy and (relatively) painless hook removal from fingers, hands, scalps, etc. using the fishing line loop-over-hook-and-jerk technique

All fishermen should learn how to do this, hell I have yanked half a dozen out of myself, not to mention several others that were fishing with me.
This happened while I was on my lunch break today. There is a pond down the street. I had just caught 2 fish back to back. The second fish had the trailing treble hook stuck in its gill. When I went to remove it, he jerked and I had my hand it a [censored] position(I was hungover today) thats my fault. I then had to get him off the hook while this hook was embedded in my finger.
I work with a guy who fishes all the time and when he first saw it, he was like "oh [censored] thats bad." Then I had another friend, who I was previously planning on meeting, look at it when he got to my work. At this point I had to remove the crank without any pliers or tools. It was lodged in at such an angle I couldnt poke it back through the skin. And they way it had dug in, neither myself of my friends felt comfortable yanking it out.
I ended up driving to my doctors office that was pretty close. Even he took a while to think of how to get it out, and my doctor fishes too. He ended up numbing the finger and then using his medical pliers to pull it out. It took a good amount of force. I ended up getting a tetanus shot, since I have no clue when my last one was done.
Hers a picture I took before I got the hook off the crank.
I have been lucky. First and so far only one I have gotten in me was in my scalp which is not very sensitive. I just reached up there and pulled it out. Bled a little but not all that painful.
2 weekends ago I caught a swim jig right above my sunglasses and it split me wide open. Took me a sec to figure out my next move. Lol Didnt want to get blood everywhere but thought I needed stitches. Found a buff and used it as a rag and went over to another boat and let a guy look at it. That knot felt like it stuck out an inch but it quit bleeding so I put a bandaid on it and kept on fishing
