I've been wanting to try out Bonham State Park for some time now, got my chance yesterday. Took my 92 year old Dad out for a day of fishing. We had to work hard for the 5 (all on jigs) we put in the box but had a good time. Broke off twice. I think they were catfish because I upgrade line size and managed to land a 3lb catfish. We also caught a dozen bass up to about 2lbs. The one lane boat ramp is a bit steep but manageable. Deepest part of the lake is ~17 feet, lots of vegetation and clear water. The state sunk a bunch of fish attractors with coordinates, managed to find a few but only caught bass and catfish off them.

Might as well go to coffee mill lake. All the lakes that color now.

Awesome! Never enough time to hang out with your father. I just took my dad out, he is 80. Memories that you will never get back. There is something about the last couple of days with that NE wind. From the East the bite the least. Do not understand why, but it seems to hold true. As said though, the fishing was not as important as the time with Dad. If you listen to country music, listen to Brad Paisley "Time Well Wasted". It came out right when I went to Afghanistan and my father and I went fishing right before that. Awesome song that reminds me of awesome times.

Good post Dad & I wasted a lot of time on the water, and in deer stand,& shootingdove,ducks,quail.Like me some Brad P. Miss wastin time with him,i know he's watchin when I set the hook. gotta go ,sumthn in my eyes.
