Can anyone give me any tips about catching shad at Ray Roberts and are they readily available right now? Gizzards or threads would be fine.

It's been a few years since I've caught bait on Roberts, but I don't recall ever having a problem getting gizzards out of Ray Roberts Marina. This time of year, early makes it a little easier.

I was there Saturday and was surprised on how many balls of shad I saw on the graph. The last few years they have been tough to see. I was on the west arm in several coves on the west side.

I was out there last week twice and they were running the bank 5-6 foot wide. Spawning up in behind the trees. Should be good on bait for a while with the spawn and plenty of places for small ones to hide
