I would love some feed back! If I could hear from those of you that fish plastic on jig heads. I currently use a round ball head primarily 1/16 oz, with a light wire #2 bronze sickle hook. It has a single lead barb on it. I fish Toledo Bend with my 83 year old Dad that loves it. We fish every weekend, but notice a few problems. 1). The plastic slides down and a friend told me he uses the wire bait keeper instead of the lead barb. What do you use? 2). The second problem may be the lead round ball head size. Another guy is fishing a different head design and another is using tungsten heads, he says because of the smaller size head. Have any of you used tungsten heads, or maybe just a different head to help with the bite to hook up ratio? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

To each their own, but no way I am spending the $$$ on tungsten heads, for crappie.

You can get as detailed as you want with tricks but a bottle of super glue gel will keep the plastic on for several fish.

These are what I have started using. But as stated above prob best bet would to use glue to help.

I would recommend a barbless jig head, and the BoneHead Tackle jigs. The plastic used to make those jigs is super durable...no doubt!

I use the coil wire jig heads by Redgun. If crappie are hitting the same color, that one jig lasts 3-4 trips. If I change colors, I cut the line and save the setup as is for use again.

I use gel super glue and it holds my plastics just fine, I choose my jig heads by size. I use 3/32 jig heads alot and when fishing deep water I will move up to a 3/16 size jig head.

I don't use plastics often but when I do I prefer barbless jigs or screw lock....

The barbed especially the lead barb rips the plastic as soon as you push the plastic on it.....

Timmy Toms weedless jigheads. A drop of gel glue to hold plastic on. I used the same jighead and plastic all summer long 2 years ago.

I've always preferred and done better with plastics, especially the warm season. I'll try hair jigs once in awhile in the cold months, but plastic works better for me.

I've only met Redgun once and he's a super guy. He drove over to my place to give me a sample of the coil wire jig heads he makes. Only problem is, I'm too stupid to understand how to get my plastic body on it. I still owe him a promised meeting at 121 and been so stinking busy with this weather, haven't even been out myself but once this Spring. I needed this reminder.
