Occasionally I like to do a little shark fishing. I've caught them out at the Sabine Pass jetties but they are always small.

Any tips on how to target bigger sharks?

16/0 circle hook baited with three whole sardines or whole menhaden.
6ft of 300-500 # mono leader.

Baloon tied above the leader. Let it drift out up top.

Come with me end of July into August and September. We catch a lot of 6 - 8 footers on a nice shark hunt. Most people give up after one or two.....

I run a land based guide service off of bolivar Peninsula. I target big sharks and big bull reds. Check out my Facebook page Green Tide Surf Fishing for further information. Very reasonable rates and youre bound to have a good time. Let me know if can help. Id love to earn your business if youd allow me. Thanks

bigger shark, need bigger bait.

cast net a big mullet or croaker(at least 12 in.) and put on the end of an offshore rig with a foot or so of wire leader. wait for the click and hold on. caught plenty big bull sharks and black tips that way.

croaker works best because of the sound
