Trust me, no more almost having a heart attack when trying to pull start your old one, is worth every single freaking penny. Think of how pissed off you get when it's 100 degrees and you have to pull that damn cord 15 times to get it started.... those days are long gone for me. Pick it up, squeeze the trigger and you're off.

What a maroon!

If your sons can mow they should be able to run a gas-powered weed eater.

And if you don't have a ton of weed eating to so and need something lighter, the 18v works well for it's size.

For years I would have said the same. But the improvements in battery life and power just in the past few years have been amazing. If you live on an acre it's probably not for you, but for a regular city lot battery powered is the way to go, IMO. Even for mowers.

I bought that Ego one. My son mowed lawns in the neighborhood all last summer with it. Still works good. Not light. I also have the edger attachment, and bought a hedge trimmer.

Party

I have the 18 volt Ryobi, and like it a lot. It lasts about 30 min. give or take.

I have a 20 volt Black & Decker I got off of Amazon for $100. I love it and it does a great job. Lithium battery and last forever even though it came with 2 batteries. Someone said theirs was weak but mine does a great job for weed eating the yard and great as an edger. My battery hasnt gone dead while using it, my lot is about half an acre. Weed eat around the whole fence, house, flower beds and two stone walls plus edge the sidewalk and driveway with juice left in the battery. Ive had it about 7 months. Very light, wife could use it and as mentioned, no cord pulling.

Gas one carped out and they head back to college in mid-august

Is your yard to big to drag an extension cord around?

Extension cords are a PITA if you have trees or other obstacles.

you can put blades or heavy duty strings. I would recommend this for any weedeater that is doing heavy work

My echo gas burner is a beast, it runs and runs, will started in 3 pulls every time. Batteries are for children's toys.
