 Trip to the beach (Surfside)

With the light winds, spare time, and great weather we decided to make a trip to the beach for some fishing and a little fun. JBH1917 (John), Bayshore Brawler (Brian) and myself packed the trucks and headed out around eleven or so Saturday morning. We chose a spot on the beach that I am sure everyone will recognize, but it proved to be a good choice. We spent Saturday afternoon setting up camp, gathering wood, catching bait and drinking a little cold beer. Here is base camp.   John and I decided that we needed a few lines in the water around midnight, so I braved the darkness and yakked out two massive baits. We watched the surf rods for a few hours, but never really had any runs. Brian had brought his generator and lights so we tried fishing the surf at night for some Trout. That failed as well, but I never like standing in the surf at night anyways. We woke up the next morning to slick water, light wind, and about 10 feet of sand between us and the fish. John caught a huge bull Red early in the morning but we didn’t manage to get a pic. Brian and John caught quite a few Trout up to around 19” but we were looking for bigger and better things. We all landed the occasional Gafftop and a few small Croakers (perfect bait). The action was pretty hot for most of the day. Here are a few pics. I hope you enjoy.       (Last weekend)

Nice catch guys, where exactly was that, the only spot i know of is underneath the causeway by the san luis pier and its not producing right now.....

Nice catch guys, where exactly was that, the only spot i know of is underneath the causeway by the san luis pier and its not producing right now..... You might want to reconsider your source or modify your technique. I was about 2 miles from that bridge.
