Hope everyone is doing well. Going to give a quick report and update that may help some of you guys with the bigger tournaments coming up or if you're just out fun fishing. I know a lot of guides are still running the shad spawn. In my opinion, its is about 90% over. You can still find them chasing in a few spots we tried. But only caught 3-5 fish in these spots. Far from what it was the last few weeks. If you do still want that topwater bite in the morning, I'd recommend a spook, like a sexy dawg or something like that. Color doesn't make a difference. On the low light and the way the bait is moving, they don't have time to check out what color your throwing. Now.....what we have been doing in these same areas, is backing out a little deeper (Around 5 ft.) and throwing a Santone swimjig with a Mister Twister trailer. This has caught way more fish and bigger fish for us than the spook was. This is the set up below. On a note, we are pulling the orange strands out on the jig After that, we are wasting no time moving out deeper. We are graphing some spots, but still just not finding them grouped like we'd like them to be. We've had more luck on long tapering points with timber on them of some kind of stick ups or stumps. Most of the fish we are catching are in the 10-15 ft. range of the point. On the top crown. We are normally keeping the boat sitting in 18-20 ft. We are throwing 2 baits in particular. A 1/2 oz. Santone Football jig in #106 - Bass Candy Blue. and a drop shot with a 1/4 oz. weight. I'm using the 1/2 oz. jig due to all the stumps and timber. I felt the bait came thru stuff a little easier than our typical 3/4 oz. football jig we use this time of year. Once we go 30 mins. or so without a bite, we move on to the next point, then just create a milk run from the points we are catching them on. By doing this you'll end up looking back at the end of the day and end up with some pretty good numbers. I think for about 5 days straight last week we averaged 25-35 a day doing this with a lot of big slots mixed in the numbers. Including 2 overs. Congrats to all that cashed checks this last weekend in Legends and especially the 11.97 that won the tournament. That's a GIANT for this time of year! And good luck to all fishing Skeeter here in about 2 weeks! Look forward to seeing you guys out there. On a personal note. I really want to congratulate my wife Shanda. She has really learned and become a great angler on that lake. Not only did we run several unders in this weekend. But she had 2 big fish on, one broke her off on the boat, and the other she landed for a 1st place hourly win. This was her first over weighed in in a tournament. And I couldn't be more happy for her. Fish weighed 8.00 even on our scales and 7.90 on Don's. And like Don said....."Sinkey, you need to take notes from her!" Congrats again babe. I'm very proud of you and a very lucky man!

Dude you definitely married up. And besides being a model she may be the better angler.
I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.

And Mister Twister 6" Nightcrawler in Watermelon Green Apple. Both are getting bit very well. Once we go 30 mins. or so without a bite, we move on to the next point, then just create a milk run from the points we are catching them on. Sorry guys. I got a couple of PM's about the swimjig. The color is Acid Perch by Santone, and pull the orange strands out. The trailer is a 4" Twister tail in White Pearl by Mister Twister.
