I do the same as in the wired to fish video as posted above. However, towards the end of the not I do not waste a ton of line cinching my knot. As I start cinching the knot I mainly focus on keeping the know above the hook of the eye. When the knot starts to touch my fingers I wet it and cinch both main and tag at the same time. I then give a good tug on the main. But I think too many guys get the knot slid over on the eye of the hook.

Does not matter. Whatever you prefer and is easiest for you. Just make sure you wet the loops before cinching. It matters quite a bit if you don't want your knot to break if you are using fluorocarbon line.

I learned the correct way to tie a Palomar knot from Shaw Grigsby at a fishing show. After you have your double line through the eyelet make sure both lines are parallel to each other. Then tie the overhand knot and let the loop fall back in the opposite direction of your main line and tag end. Next pull the knot back away from the eyelet forming a figure 8. Slowly pull the main line and the tag end making the figure 8 smaller and smaller until you finally cinch it down. That way the knot stays loose until the last moment and you will not burn the line that way. Make sure the loop is between the eyelet and the knot. You don't want the loop to tighten down on the main line in front of the knot. Your double line through the eyelet must be side by side on both sides of the eyelet and not crossed. It is a strong knot and it will work just fine with fluorocarbon line if you tie it correctly.

Its all KVD throws along with many other pros. Its the only knot I throw. I only use Floro also. I see a lot of times its the line being used more then a knot. I had issues with Invisx using the polamar knot. Swapped back to vicious and Bass Pro line. Zero issues

I still use the Shaw Grigsby knot or trilene knot for fluoro, but a well tied Palomar seems good for fluoro as well-I used to not believe this but after testing and listening to yall a lot I believe it is a good fluoro knot.

Interesting you say loop under the knot the video posted says above the knot.... clearly both ways work fine

Does not matter. Whatever you prefer and is easiest for you. Just make sure you wet the loops before cinching. it can, with fluorocarbon line, or at least i have figured out how to mess it up in the past. here is a link on how the palomar can go bad with fluorocarbon. The man did not specify what kind of line. I don't use fluorocarbon. So it does not matter.
