Is there a better way to keep a Texas rigged soft plastic on the hook than sticking a tooth pick through the bait/hook eye?

thats so funny i was just talking about this in another thread.... look at this picture. The swivel is put on the line above the hook, then put the worms head on the hook as usual, then put the other side of the swivel on the hook, finally finish putting the worm on as usual. it helps some, a strong bite will still rip it off though.

Once that senko rips, how do you put another one without having to retie? The swivel prevents you from Texas riging the bait as normnal

Slack line and the swivel just slips back off the hook point. Then thread the hook on the head of the bait. Again slack line and put the swivel back over the hook point and finish rigging the plastic bait.

I guess I would need to see how that swivel is laying under the weight because that looks like a good recipe for the swivel to cut into your knot and break you off.

If I'm getting a lot of hits and unconcerned about a precise presentation, I will sometimes cut off 1/2" to get down to fresh meat. Otherwise, grab a fresh bait!

I guess my first question is what kind of hook are you using? Straight shank? Ever since the invention of off set hooks its been a non issue for me.
The swivel trick is a old Roland Martin trick. It works but it solves a problem that does not exist with off set hooks.
