I currently have a Battenkill II and love the sound of a click pawl. However during my last trip I somehow managed to get sand between the spool and the housing. No damage to the reel, just the PIA of having to stop fishing, take it apart and rinse it out. So now I am thinking about picking up a new 4wt reel and can't decide between the Loop Q or the Cheeky Tyro 300. Can anyone give me first hand pros and cons to either of these reels?

I don't have experience with the Tyro, but have its big brother the Limitless. It's a fine reel, machined ported, with all the bells and whistles and has proven itself to be very durable. I like it, but when time comes to replace it, I think I will opt for another brand for two reasons. First and foremost at the lightest drag setting it freespools, so if you don't reset the drag and hurriedly strip line, it will overspool and cause a birds nest. IMHO, no fly reel should ever do this-that's why I stopped using baitcasters and conventional fishing. Second, it's flat out heavy, really heavy and it doesn't pair well with lighter rods which is what I typically use.
I know small freshwater reels are typically line holders, but line holders are important too because siezed reel or fly line knotted on the spool means your day is done. For just a bit more cash, I think the Orvis Battenkill Disc may be a better deal, same drag as the Hydros SL and easier to get replaced or serviced if you need to.

Thanks MassAction. I ended up getting the Loop Q. Actually got it in today. It seems to be well built and has a lot of the same features as their higher end reels. It uses the same sealed carbon drag system, has v shaped spool and has a couple of set screws on the drag knob. The only down side is that its cast aluminum rather than machined. That being said I have yet to find a rough spot from the casting. It is a little heavier than my Battenkill but that will help move the balance point from the hook keeper back down toward to the grip.
