I use an allstar 7' Carolina rig rod. Cheap, broom stick, and wont bother me if I break it

Another vote for the Dobyns Champion 735 and 736 rods. If you do not ant to spend that much, they have the Fury 735 or a step up to the Dobyns Sierra for $180. So several options in the Dobyns class that meet your criteria. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
