I'm in the market to buy some new rain gear. Im trying to get some info on the different types. I want something that will keep you dry in the heaviest of rain and wind proof. Thanks in advance

All I have to say is you won't get wet in gore tex as long as it fits right.

Get a gore-tex shell; it is light weight so you don't get hot if it is not cold out. In winter you can use fleeces underneath as layers to keep you warm. As temp goes up remove layers. It is worth while to get the actual Gore- Tex brand because it is the best. Gore-Tex is the name of the material not the brand of the jacket.

Simms Pro Dry is as good as it gets. Cabelas guide wear is great too. Lots of improved stuff out there the last few years.

I have the BPS 100 set, gore-Tex boots too. Fished a tourney yesterday and still got soaked. Nothing keeps you dry in a downpour that lasts all day.

Ive fished three full days in pouring thunderstorms this year in a Bass Pro Shop Bone Dry suit and stayed completely dry. The other options mentioned are all great but cost a lot more. I have a Simms insulated suit for when its cold. Hard to go wrong with anything mentioned above.

Cathartt Storm Defender. I've had a set for a couple years now and they work great, dry as a bone! Cheers, George

+4 on Simms pro dry. Super expensive, but worth. An important note on anything Gore-Tex. You have to take care of it. That means washing it per instructions (frequency depends on use). You also need to use special detergent and water proofing compound. You can buy that stuff on line. Anyway, do that and you'll stay bone dry.

I've been looking into the same thing and I've narrowed it down to these few... I just want to make sure I get one that is comfortable to wear when it's warm as well. That's why I haven't pulled the trigger yet. BPS 100MPH - GORE-TEX - $470 BPS Pro Qualifier - GORE-TEX - $ 440 BPS Bone-Dry (not gore-tex) - $260 Cabela's Guidewear - GORE-TEX - $550
I'm leaning towards the Pro Qualifier, since they seem to be lighter weight, but still GORE-TEX.

Pro qualifier is lighter and you can always dress warm under it. I have never found a reason to get insulated rain wear. Just not cold enough here for me.
