Elbow has been bothering me last few weeks and after fishing today is killing me and why I'm up at 2:15. Hurts too much to sleep even after a tramadol. Anyone ever get this from casting? How long did you rest it? I wore a brace I picked up from CVS but didn't do much good I suppose. Sucks. I mainly fish because I have other health problems that don't allow me to run or even walk any distances so it limits all the old sports I used to do, even hiking. Fishing was the one thing I could do so I just can't lose it too.

rut-roe what was the injection? I've been battling the same elbow issue. OP I tried Tramedol too and didn't help much. Seems like when I think it gets better I easily re-injure it and back to square one.
You get out of it what you put into it!

Have it as well got to a orthopedic and get a cortisone steroid shot it should last quite a while mine seems to last nearly a year. They use a cooling numbing spray when they give the shot so it not very painful. My flu shot this year hurt worse than my last steroid shot. I have had 3 in the past year, 2 in my elbow and 1 in my shoulder. I have no issues getting more the relief is definitely worth getting the shot.

When I first quit playing ball and started full time fishing I came down with Tennis elbow. Didn't take the time to go to the doctor and get a shot and I ended up dealing with it for over a year. Hurt and throbbed like crazy before it finally went away. Do yourself and follow others advice and save yourself a long time of pain and suffering like I did.

Most definitely go get the cortisone shot. It lasts on some longer than others. I had tennis elbow in both elbows 20 years ago from fishing. Treated one and then the other. 3 injections in each elbow. Gone for 20 years. It finally came back but not too bad. I went and got a shot last year and I have been good to go. Don't put it off. It is a welcomed relief.

All the shot does is mask the pain. I had surgery in both elbows in 2013 and 14 and now great. The new tenex procedure does not even require stitches. I got like 7 shots in each elbow to get me through the tourney season and that actually causes more damage. The flex bar is good exercise therapy for this pain as well as rest and ice

Ive had the surgery twice.
I try and fish w techniques that are less casting now. For example I will throw a crank bait a few times if I get bit I usually slow down w a plastic.

Go get an MRI if you can. Shots only temporarily fix the problem. I wear a copper sleeve and do a lot of casting with my wrists and do more soft plastics.

The only brace that ever helped me was just a strap that had a hard leather pad on it.. got it from my chiropractor. It goes on your forearm right where the tendon connects to bone at the elbow. Sorry you are hurting, that sucks

As mentioned get the cortisone shot. Another option his to get a freeze sleeve wrap and DMSO from Tractor supply. Rub your elbow down with DMSO and put the wrap over it. It will help tremendously.

Yea, it's only been going on for about 3 weeks, but I have a rare disease that causes daily chronic pain plus a bad back. I don't need any more of this [censored]. I think underhand casts trying to skip up under trees is what caused it.

Skip the cortisone and don't get surgery without consulting somebody about PRP first. My brother had 2 PRP treatments on his and it fixed him. Cortisone did not fix him. It killed his pain for a short period but it came back.
I just had 2 cortisone shots in my shoulder last week and have been unimpressed so far.

I just used my spinning reel for s few weeks until it went away. My biggest problem was the hook set not the casting so I used the opposite arm for a while

Rub some dirt on it and walk it off. Just kidding, my knees got so bad from arthritis that I was walking with crutches and had just about quit fishing because I couldn't got around in the boat. Had both knees totally replaced and now am back fishing full time pain free.
