 exhaust tuner?

2007 Yamaha 250 hpdi. it appears that the exhaust tuner has gone bad. motor runs fine how critical is it to have this repaired?
and has anyone ever had it done?

My 04 HPDI has burned out two of them. Mine didn't run fine with it burned out. I replaced the last one with a hydrotech tuner and it has held up.

so far mine has leaked water out with carbon mix of water just looking nasty as it runs down on to lower unit
