I caught this on Callender lake and have never seen a sunfish look like this . Most are regular blue gills with an occasional copper nose. Thx for any help [Linked Image]

As stated from your PM. I think Hybrid Sunfish. A lot of good anglers follow this section and hopefully a few of them will reply. thumb

Side Note: Longear-Bluegill Mix or Longear-Redear Mix. Who Knows? hmmm

Do not target sunfish but for what I have been reading and following in this section I would guess the above.

At first glance, I thought Pumpkinseed.

I'll be that guy and throw out Longear and Redbreast, but I think Longear and BG is a good call. If I was more familiar with the lake, I would have a better guess. Hybrids of the same mix can look a lot different depending on the water body.

It's my understanding the only Pumpkins in TX are in privately stocked tanks. Though there is a chance some have gotten into public waters. That said, I don't believe this to be the case.

This was caught on Callender lake , a private 360 acre lake in Murchison . I posted a pic earlier which I called a pumpkin seed but was corrected in a different strain of bluegill. None are huge except the copper nose . Thx again for your help

Im throwing in with Dfitz and saying Longear X Redbreast. However, this one is a real puzzler. Both of those fish are typically found in or near flowing water. Not a small lake like Callender. Big river reservoir lakes? Definitely! But not the lake that is described. Could be some bucket biology going on.

The knowledge of TFF members never ceases to amaze me . Although sunfish seem to be around I rarely catch any . All the following were caught while jogging for crappie on Callender lake[Linked Image]
