Friend has a small ranch out close to Cooper and just bought a little 17 foot bass pro type bass boat. I went out with him and showed him how to use the graphs, but never fished the lake. I fish his pond a few times a year, but would like to show him best options to catch some fish on Cooper. Lake was pretty high Sunday, but once at pool just general ideas and you can PM me if you don't want to post here. He's a good guy, but not very experienced at fishing and not a lake I ever fish so not one I'm familiar with. I was surprised there were only 3-4 trailers in the parking lot.

It still has some bass, I know of some that catch a few fish there, but have no idea where or how, If he wants to have fun he needs to sandbass fish there, lots of big sandbass and I think still some hybrids in the lake..

Go to boat lane #3 and go fish the river. On boat lane #1 at the end there is a ridge on the tree edge that comes out into the lane. From there about 100-125 yards South there is a good hump Find the pond dams and fish them as well. The pond dam next to the retaining wall at the State park with all the brush is not bad either.

Thanks for the answers. Awesome that you would share spots as I wasn't expecting that level of detail. And yes, sandbass and hybrids may be a good option. Easier to find and catch.

The last time that TP&W stocked Cooper Lake with Florida Bass was in 2010. That should tell you a lot about what your potential bass catch ratio to hours spent on the water might be? The bass population has slowly been depleted for many reasons at this lake. They do however continue to stock the lake with Hybrids and the hybrid action should be excellent this summer if they do not receive another historical flood in the watershed between now and then. The best months to fish Lake Cooper are during the summer. If you have access to a drone with camera, you can quickly fly the lake and look for the best water quality. And by the way, it is one of the best cat fish lakes in Texas.

Thx all. I've taken the responses and texted them to my friend. Hopefully they come in handy.
