Hi,

I am familiar with centrifugal brakes on reels, on my bantam reel I can simply undo a thumb screw on the side, adjust a few pins reattach and off I go, easy to make adjustments on the go.

I realized that my Abu Reel has a similar braking system. it seems you have to use a screwdriver and take the reel nearly all the way apart to get to it though, like I have to take the handle off to get to it. lots of little screws and pins to lose? I get this info from the internet which i know is sometimes unreliable, so if I am missing something let me know.

If I am right then it seems like the brake is not meant to be adjusted on the water or tweaked often. It that the case? How do you adjust for different size sinkers or baits? Do you just set the pins to a default setting and use the spool tensioner only for adjusting to different size baits?

If you own a c4 reel and you set your centrifugal pins and leave them, what do you set them too? What is your default setting if you will?

Thanks

Three big thumb screws. Thats it. The entire handle and drag stack assembly side plate all comes off in a single piece with those large three thumb screws which stay on the side plate and generally cannot be lost.

Generally if you are getting back lash in the air set a brake or two. If getting backlash when it lands set the spool tension knob a lil tighter.

High wind days usually calls for more brakes. Short flips use more brakes.

Spool tension you will tighten or loosen for heavier or lighter.

The centrifugal brakes only work when your cast is accelerating. They do not impact or have any influence after your bait stops accelerating. (Kinda the definition of the physics of centrifugal force). Spool shaft tension is always in contact. So use an extra brake as opposed to heavy spool tension.
