Want to know how crappie react when you drop a bait in the water?
Or pull your boat up to a tree or brush pile?
Or where they live other than brush piles?

People have been asking - and CAT is going to supply those answers and a lot more at the June 4th meeting.
An all star panel of Jay Reeve, Jeff Schweiterman, and Clay Gann will talk about what they observe crappie doing in many different situations on different lakes.

The people using Livescope have said,"You can take about 90% of what you know about crappie and throw it away."

The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast live in the members section of the CAT Facebook page. As always members can view the meeting on the CAT web site after it's posted.

Mark your calendars for June 4th, 7pm at Cabelas in Allen.

Does this tidbit of info below make you wonder? If so, come to the CAT meeting June 4 at Cabelas in Allen.

You'll hear from people who have observed crappie with Livescope on multiple lakes in Texas and in different States. Coming up to a bridge pillar or brush pile and looking for crappie and spot locking on same; then watching fish come up to your bait is one way to use Livescope.

But there is so much more to it.

Hancock's Guide Service
I have about 500 hours on Fork fishing timber and chasing down open water fish with Livescope. I use a liftsaver transducer pole and for guiding I think its perfect. I sweep mine fast from one side of the boat to the other. Once I see a fish or a piece of a fish I run towards the fish until its in range. 90% of the fish you see are un-catchable. I look for fish floating or locked on structure. I don't waste my time on what I call swimmers. I'm covering lots of water quick. I never use spot lock other than on a brush pile if I fish one which isn't often. Now the pole can be a pain and I would prefer it on T/m but to me its not how I fish. Once I see a fish I never lose sight of him. I know many guys successfully using it on T/m and would never say you cant do it. I take people out weekly that have Livescope that leave realizing they only thought they knew how to use it. There are several tricks to dialing it in to get the ultimate success out of it. My best advice is, if the fish did not react in one of 3 ways, you were either not close enough or he did not see it. They will bite, spook or swim up and look at it. If he spooks, it's because you came in behind him, got below him or plopped your bait in the water. They will always react if you get it in his zone. Some zones are 3 and some are 6 inches. To get really good, get a bait 6 away in 5-10 seconds. Check out my Facebook for what Livescope has done for my customers on Fork since January. Its the greatest tool invented since the fish hook. We are fishing not wishing now!

It's so deadly. I can't wait to hear all the experiences and new tactics when targeting crappie.

It's neat to see how they react differently from week to week! Last week on Fork they would meet your jig halfway dropping down to them to crush it and this weekend you had to hold it on their nose to get them to finally hit it!

This past Saturday on Ray Roberts, the jig usually did not get to the depth I was trying to go to. The crappie below it would come up like a freight train and smash the jig about half way down. LiveScope is the best thing since sliced bread and Cheeros fish

After visiting with Josh Jones Saturday I tried something that he says helps him put a few more fish in the boat and thats dropping a spoon on them to get them fired up. Then drop your jig back down and they slam it. Today on Fork it worked several times.
Im also using a new scent called Bait Pro. Its a water based scent with enzymes in it that will sometimes trigger a bite when nothing will. I will soak a couple jigs down drop it in and watch how their reaction changes. Nothing works 100% of the time but those two tricks have gotten fish fired up enough to bite when nothing else works.

Dont miss tomorrow nights meeting!

Other than what is already mentioned.

1. Some crappie will be suspended only 4' - 6' at anytime of the year.
2. Practice approaching structure with stealth.
3. Scent/nibbles, etc., can make a difference.
4. TOW with LiveScope is important.
5. Crappie show up on LiveScope more rounded than white bass and most other species.
6. LiveScope makes me wonder how the Hancocks, Patys, of the world ever caught a crappie to begin with.

And they swim faster and like more action, I learned that fishing with Ernest. I can easly tell the difference now between cappie and sandbass. Last weekend, I saw a sand bass reacting to my action, so I just started toying with him, seemed the more action I gave, the more he swam to it. He would come to it fast, and would stop action to let him take it, but he would stop and just look, finally started just pouring on the action, and when he got to it, I would reel in more. Kinda like in high school when you got out the car, and tried to get back in, and your buddy would drive off 10 yard and make you walk, so you walk to it anf try and grab the door, and he drives off again another 10 yards, this time you run to it, he drives off again and he has you running after it, that is what I did to this sandbass lol, he took it with it running, I got a real kick out of that. He didn't want anything to do with it if it was not moving.

Sometimes that crappie you thought was 4' deep was actually 15' deep and reacted to your bait as soon as it hit the water.
Crappie can move as fast as a white bass to get the bait and that includes changing depth.
As your boat approaches timber, some crappie will sink all the way to the bottom and hold there.
Crappie are out in open water all the time, not relating to any structure and on the move.
That crappie you thought took 10 minutes to bite actually left the structure when your boat approached and came back.
That saying that "if you put the bait in front of a crappie he'll bite it," ain't so.
As a boat approaches structure, many times the larger fish leave that structure.
Crappie move around on structure most of the time, some leaving, some arriving.
Using a longer rod definitely has advantages.
