Extreme wind & fishing was Fayette yesterday. Fished from daybreak til 6:00 pm. with friend Lloyd. Water temp was 75-79 degrees depending on where you were...clarity & lake level was normal/good. Started out at mid lake reedbeds in wind sheltered area & got a few...moved to new reedbed not fished b4 & got a few. Moved back to second cove reedbeds fished the past weeks & got maybe 15. Moved back in trees at 11:00 & had to tie up & wedge between trees due to wind...bite was on fire at this point. Left biting fish at 1:00 pm to go dam rip rap in search of Rios, since Lloyd had never caught one. Did not find any Rios, but the sunfish bite was as good as I have seen for big fish. (Thank you Cricket hook for the heads up on the rip rap fish). Left the dam area around 3 pm in search of bass & less wind...ended up in the trees on the southeast end...the bass bite was on fire as well. Ended the day with around 25 bass & 60-70 sunfish. All fish released. I fished all day with the spinshot/dropshot set up for the 1st time ever. I did lose 5 or 6 drop shot sinkers in the rocks, but never broke off the hook. One other note on the Spinshot...I never once had a fish swallow the hook...not sure if it is that wierd shape or what, but this was a definite plus. Most sunfish caught on night crawlers, but did add a maggot to the hook in the 1st half of the day as recommended by doctorxring...didn't seem to matter...they were biting with & without. Most bass caught on Tsunami shad swimbait. Super day & as Banker says...it don't get much better...[Linked Image]

Thanks guys...

Gitter...I personally believe that the sunfish spawn all summer long at Fayette, as opposed to only in the spring. When I cleaned fish last week, one had no eggs, one had a egg sac half developed & one had an egg sac just barely starting to form.

Banker...The wind blew 15-30 miles an hour from the time we arrived til the time we left...but on the positive side, we only saw like 4 boats on the water all day & most of them were gone by noon cool

boocat...I got my spinshots from Amazon...they are a little pricey, but am beginning to feel like they are worth it, especially if it reduces or eliminates the fish swallowing the hook deep...

doc....where were ya yesterday...looked for u, but no Chris anywhere.

Niiice! The Rio's will probably show up as it gets hotter. Keep trying them as the summer progresses. Glad that there were some big gills out on the dam. All NICE fish!

Crickethook...Have you ever tried the actual channel (rocks) where the water flows in to the plant. I know you can only go so far due to the plant restrictions, but just wondering if you ever caught fish in the actual channel ?
